I love surprises. Don't you?
It was a brisk day in early March when I met Bob Trondson (director) at a coffee shop in downtown Madison. He had recently listened to the album and had listed his three favorite tracks and why. We got to know each other a bit, talked music and the industry (Bob is the former drummer of Chicago's Blue Meanies). We came to a decision on a song and immediately started drafting a story line. The entire film was shot in a day starting at 8am at DNA Music Labs. The other portion was filmed about 20 miles south of Madison.
I'm so happy with the results. Bob was an amazing director to work with. Professional, fun, passionate about his work and experienced in the industry. He had a vision for Dream Awake and for me as an artist and it came to life better than I had ever imagined. The video was filmed by James Parker, new to the Madison area, originally from Mississippi. They captured the essence and drive of the song, making everything flow seamlessly throughout. Both James and Bob were a riot and I feel like I made two really great new friends in the process. I hope you enjoy "Dream Awake."
